The Official Sports Medicine Provider of Vol State Community College Athletics
Highpoint Health – Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas is now the official sports medicine partner of the Vol State Pioneers. Male and female athletes have access to orthopedic, primary and emergency care across Highpoint Health – Sumner's network of hospitals and clinics. In addition to treating injured athletes, our team educates athletes on topics such as the importance of hydration, stretching, and preventative tactics to keep the athletes safe and healthy, hold coaches’ in-services, and alleviate any barriers to care when athletes choose to receive their care within the network of providers.
Get to Know Dr. Nicholas Dantzker
Nicholas Dantzker, MD is a sports medicine surgeon who specializes in shoulder and elbow surgery and spearheads the sports medicine program at Highpoint Health – Sumner.
Dr. Dantzker started his medical journey by attending the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2015. There he received his Doctoral degree in Medicine. He furthered his education with an orthopedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2020. During his residency, Dr. Dantzker received grants to conduct research on the utility of radiographic parameters and a clinical trial over a novel therapy for adhesive capsulitis.
To deepen his knowledge in sports medicine, Dr. Dantzker went on to complete a surgical fellowship at Columbia University Center for Shoulder, Elbow, and Sports Medicine in 2021. While completing his fellowship in New York, Dr. Dantzker served as the team physician for Columbia University, Fordham University, and the New York City Football Club. He also helped care for the New York Yankees. These experiences helped grow his knowledge and love for sports medicine.
Dr. Dantzker is affiliated with many professional organizations. He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society.
Dr. Dantzker treats athletes in this community requiring sports-related orthopedic care and is supported by his colleagues at Highpoint Orthopedic Associates.
